Terms of use
Plain terms for a free, open source service in public beta. Last updated on .
Who runs Standcast
Standcast is an open source project under the MIT license, run by Felipe Oliveira, an individual developer. These terms cover the hosted service: the GitHub App, the Slack app, the Google Chat app, the web app, the API, and the CLI and MCP server when they connect to it. By installing or using the service, you accept these terms. If you use it for an organization, you accept them for that organization.
If you run Standcast on your own servers, the MIT license applies and these terms do not.
Public beta, provided as is
Standcast is free during the public beta. It is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may change, and the service may be paused or stopped. Important changes are announced before they take effect, whenever possible.
As far as the law allows, Felipe Oliveira is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost data or lost profits that come from using the service. If Standcast becomes paid, pricing is announced before the beta ends, and nothing is charged without your agreement.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- abuse or overload the service, or work around its rate limits;
- use it to send spam or messages people did not ask for;
- try to access the data of another organization or person, link a space or channel you are not allowed to, or get around authentication;
- use it to break the law or the terms of GitHub, Slack, Google or Linear.
Access that breaks these rules may be suspended. If you find a security issue, report it privately as described in the security policy.
Your content
Your organization and its people own what they put in Standcast: dailies, blockers, support requests and configuration. You let Standcast store and process that content only to run the service, for example to build drafts, post digests, send reminders and route blockers. Standcast does not sell it.
Your data
Standcast processes data as described in the Privacy page and in the privacy page of the documentation: what it reads, what it stores, how long it keeps it and who sees what.
Other services
Standcast works with GitHub, Slack, Google Chat and Linear. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. Standcast is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
Leaving Standcast
You can stop at any time: uninstall the GitHub App, remove the Slack app or the Google Chat app, and run standcast logout. What is deleted, and when, is in the privacy page of the documentation, under removing your data.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows the last change. If you keep using Standcast after a change, you accept the new terms.
